I watched Four Weddings last week, and laughed at the budgets the brides set themselves!  The "budget" bride was £3000.00, the most expensive bride was £17,000.

When we got married 20 years ago, our wedding was budget even by those standards!  We got married in a hotel, by a minister who accepted a £30.00 donation to the Church. We had approximately 30 guests at the wedding catered at £5.00 for a meal and all toasts, and then a buffet later on for evening guests AND our Wedding night room!  We had a film company come and video the event for £50.00, and they brought along a Trainee photographer, who offered to take photos for free! I wore my sisters wedding dress, she wore my cousin's bridesmaid dress.  I had new shoes, and a fascinator, and my mum gave us £100.00 to take on honeymoon!

It was small, informal, with lots of laughter and a few tears (of joy).  There was much dancing and lots of fun.  My new husband and I had so much fun we didn't even leave - we were there to see the last guests go.

All we wanted was a celebration of our committment to each other - you don't need fancy cars, fancy dresses and the best of everything to do that.  You just need love and we had that, and still do, in abundance!
