Mothering Sunday 14th March 2010

A little about Mothering Sunday in the UK

Mothering Sunday celebrated in the UK on the fourth Sunday of Lent. This year we will be celebrating Mothers Day on 14th March 2010.

Mothering Sunday ( also know as Mid-Lent Sunday ) was first Celebrated back in the 17th century by Christians. It was when young servants & maids would be allowed out of their daily chores, for one day of the year to go home and visit their Mothers and the Mother Church. The children would bring along Gifts & Flowers for their Mothers the Flowers may have been picked on the way .

As time has gone by Christians have spread across Europe etc spreading the celebrations of this day. And now Mothering Sunday is being celebrated around the world.

Mothering Sunday is a special Day to honour all Mothers both pasted and present.
