Mothers Day is known to have been establishment by a lady called Anna Marie Jarvis. After the death of her Mother Ann Jarvis on 9th May 1905 she decided to honour her Mother at her service she handed out 500 White Carnation Flowers ( Flowers are now a traditional Mothers Day Gift) one for each Mother in the congragation. In 1908 she held a special service in memory of her Mother in West Virginia and then she decided she would campaign to get "Mothers Day" recognised. Later in time Ann Jarvis became angry with how Mothers Day had became to commercialised, and was once arrested for disturbance of the peace as she was so insenced by how things had changed. She commented : A card means nothing except you're too lazy to write a letter, you take chocolates, then eat them yourself. What a sentiment to your Mothers.
